There was an icy cold wind, bib number confusion and a number of events all happening at the same time! Travelling up to Mallory Park in Leicestershire, Yate and Sodbury Striders arrived early to set up camp and collect bibs for our two teams, VW65+ (Mary Derrick, Marian Grace and Caroline Lavis) and VM65+ (Martin Hamm, Robin Crawford and Graham Bath).
Navigating around this open race track with a few hills, a cold head wind and criss-crossing with other events, was a challenge in itself. All adding to experience and the fun of the day.
Pitched against the very best at the 3 mile distance, we were delighted to receive medals for both our teams.
Our magnificent ladies VW65+ team achieving champion gold position and two individual medals, a gold for Mary Derrick and Bronze for Marian Grace.
The men’s VM65+ team finishing in an unexpected but well deserved silver position.
